The upcoming schedule for this fall’s high school football season will be hard-pressed to come up with a game to match the drama of Thursday’s 33-27 overtime victory by the Blessed Trinity Thunder over the visiting Denis Morris Reds in Niagara Catholic Athletic Association senior play.
The Thunder prevailed in a game filled with an equal amount of great plays and mental and physical errors.
The drama began with two seconds left in the clock in the first half with the Reds holding a 19-7 lead thanks to a 75-yard pick six by Parker Kaufman late in the second quarter. Following a botched attempt by Denis Morris to run the clock out in the half, BT quarterback Jake Portolesi hooked up with Adrian Ferro for a 34-yard TD pass that set the teams into halftime with DM leading 19-14.
