
It was not love at first sight for Aubrey Sartor and lacrosse.
The former hockey player was introduced to the sport by a friend on her hockey team whose dad, Pat McCready, played in the NLL.
“We tried it out and I didn’t even like it at first. I had to get bribed with A&W to go to practice,” she said, after a signing ceremony held at Blessed Trinity in recognition of her committing to play NCAA Division 1 field lacrosse at Stanford.
The 17-year-old Grimsby resident picked up the sport quickly and became good at it.
“I started practising more and more and I was better at lacrosse than hockey so two years ago I quit double A hockey to focus more on lacrosse,” the Grade 12 student said.
