West Virginia beckons Davila

Glenville State University’s women’s soccer program sounded great to Mya Davila during a phone conversation.

“I had a call with some of their coaches that had an interest in me and they showed me how good of a program it would be for me and how much of a culture and community they have together,” the Grade 12 student at Blessed Trinity said.

The 17-year-old Grimsby resident’s interest solidified when she went on an official visit to the NCAA Division 2 school in West Virginia.

“That’s when I locked in. I saw how close the community was. I was walking around and everyone was saying hi to everyone and they all knew each other. It was like a big family and it’s a small community so even if you don’t go to that school, everyone knows who you are and what sport you play. And there are five coaches so you will get attention. They will improve my play and that’s what I liked most about it.”
